John
Sr. about to drop in
on a 10 foot vert!
I
didn't fall!
(well, on the second shot anyway) |
The
Founders Behind No Juan Home! |
| .
. John Sr, has been skateboarding since the mid 70s when he
was a youngster. He started skating with a piece of wood and
clay wheels, just before the urethanes came out. Those were
the days, as they say, because those suckers skidded out with
the least amount of cornering limiting us to pretty mild tricks
and several hospital runs.
. . Finally, the urethane wheel came into being and my friends
and I found the new invention of plastic for wheels such an
incredible leap forward. The plastic boards of that era could
scream and grab on to rough surfaces allowing us to do some
really wild tricks. Nothing like the tricks done today, no
heel flips or 20 set drops, but we were cool. Very cool.
. . Although dreaming of being a skate pro, life's realities
set in, college, marriage and kids. But the dream has stayed
alive. My devotion to the sport continues to this day where
I now have the opportunity to pass on the passion for the
sport to my son John Jr. Like a duck to water, he has embraced
the thrills of the sport starting with the tricks I knew how
to show him. He has the devotion and heart to seize the opportunity,
and has quickly surpassed my wildest dreams. His experiences
and inspiration were the creative force for us to develop
and patent the Slow Juan Bearing he used extensively to learn
his arsenal of tricks. The development of the patented slow
bearing has enabled us to bring you this product and this
company, helping fufill my dreams, his and hopefully all young
boarders who dare to dream and are willing to work for it.
It can happen! |

John
Jr. at the half pipe
Pelham skatepark, NH |
.
. John Jr, has been skateboarding with John Sr. for several
years now. Although he blows his Dad away now in his abilities,
he spends time everyday doing what you have to do - practice,
practice, practice. John's initial frustration with the learning
experience with the Ollie led to the creation and patent application
for the Slow Juan Bearing that quickly gave him a leg up in
learning. Now having mastered most of the fundamental "show
off" tricks, he spends his days practicing combination
tricks like today's Masters of the Sport (e.g. Rodney Mullen,
Daewon Song etc.)
. . Beyond street, he has also developed a fondness for the
half pipe and working on his own style to begin entering competitions.
Had it not been for interest and drive to keep the spirit of
the sport alive, this company, its bearing, boards and the like
would not have become a reality.
. . John Jr. has also learned a lot about the business world.
What it takes to create a patentable product, marketing, distribution
and the difficulties in making sure your company's products
have no equal. He has found that true excellence on the park
is very hard work and to have that same excellence in your own
products is even more work. His greatest compensation that he
gets is testing our new boards, bearings and other products
and has no fear in saying "That sucks! Make it better!"
And we listen. |

No
Juan Home! is
a family owned company |
 |
.
. Besides the Juan's above, the rest of the family owned business
is involved. Vet (Mom) does weaves between the Juan's on her
blades along with all the artwork for our boards and this
site. Tucker (John Jr.'s older brother), who is the number
two field tester and mostly a ramp man, oversees production
and quility control for our packaging line. All our products
are manufactured, boxed and bagged here in the USA.
. . Although, the slow bearing patent only has John Sr. and
John Jr.'s name on it as inventors, the whole family has contributed
to the success of our young company. Playing the game and
being in the game as a team is what keeps us on our toes and
in the streets seeing what people want, like, dislike and
bitch about. We are out there at the skateparks a lot always
looking for ways to make the sport better or to spot that
next rider that needs sponsored, so that his/her dream can
come true.
. . We are a Northeast regional manufacturer and currently
work and support the East Coast, but are slowly expanding
our reach westward and beyond. Look for the No Juan Home!
van at a skatepark near you and we look forward to seeing
you on ramp sometime in the future!
